An investigation by journalists Emilie Rosso (France 3 Lorraine Champagne-Ardenne) and Nicolas Cossic (Disclose) reveals, for the first time in the agri‑food sector, the presence of PFAS—so‑called “forever chemicals”—within the production chain of Cristal Union, the company behind the sugar brand Daddy.
🛑 In response to PFAS contamination in 13 communes in the Ardennes, the prefecture announced on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, a ban on the spreading of sludge within the affected area to prevent any additional input of PFAS into soils and drinking-water catchments during the investigation phase.
📌 The burden of an industrial legacy On September 18, 2025, the public agency Brussels Environment presented to the Commune of Uccle – Gemeente Ukkel the very first analysis results around the former Sicli site 🧯.
